USA – paternity fraud – children / statistik – studies – Are you raising another man’s child? Paternal discrepancy is a phenomenon that is more common than we all might believe. After reviewing 67 studies on the subject, University of Oklahoma researchers found that PD rates tend to be much higher among men who have reason to believe there’s been more than one dog in the yard. No surprise there. But leave out these men and you end up with a number that can safely be assumed to represent the rest of us. That number is 3.85 percent. Another review of 19 studies by a group at Liverpool John Moores University backs this up, putting the figure at 3.7 percent of dads. It may not seem like a lot–until you do the math. According to a 2005 U.S. Census Bureau report, there are 27,940,000 fathers nationwide with a child under 18. That means over a million guys out there are taking care of some other man’s kid without knowing the truth.

  1. Dixie says:

My husband has been paying support for a child that not his even though DNA proved not his child. The mother always telling child about her “real” dad that lives in Hawaii and owns plantations. The child refuses to come over and all visitation has been stopped through the courts do to the mother. BUT financially my husband is on the hook. Both the mother and child want nothing to do with anything but his wallet. So now that he Is in the last year of paying support for the deadbeat, the mother has decided he should be on the hook for all her college expenses and is taking him to court. Where is the justice? He’s sucked it up and paid all these years and now she wants more! I don’t know how a woman could do that to a man, or even teach her daughter that that behavior is ok. We will see how court turns our but everything else has gone in her favor so it doesn’t look good.

    • Hi Dixie,

very sorry to hear your story. Can you tell us a little bit more about how he found out, how old the child was at that time and what the legal side exactly is? I take it we’re talking about the USA, right? Is there a limited time like in other countries “to get off the hook” legally or why did the DNA-test not solve the problem?
Would really appreciate if you could go further into detail for me and our readers. Cases like yours show how important it is to stand up for our childrens rights and also for the father’s rights!
